Context

In the hype-beast era, the Simpsons became streetwear's favourite canvas, redrawn again and again in international luxury labels.

Simpsons X Dirtylolli comes out of the hype-beast era, when reinterpreting the Simpsons in streetwear was all over the internet. The clothes on those characters almost always came from international luxury houses.

The project started as practice: a way to work on illustrative artwork using characters everyone already knows, with the clothing doing the talking.

Instead of another international label, the cast wears a local one.

Each character is dressed in Dirtylolli garments, putting a local label where the international houses usually sat. Bart appears in more than one outfit, alongside Homer, Marge, Lisa, Apu, Jimbo and Mr. Burns.

It also plays with who gets to model clothes: the cartoon cast stands in for the fashion model, taking the role off the runway and into an illustration.

Nobody asked for it and nothing was sold. It was made because the idea was worth drawing.
